Our Culture

New Zealand Concrete Structures is a Maori owned and operated business delivering to Aoteraroa for over 30 years. Managing Director and Founder Douglas Tuhoro whakapapa’s to Ngāti Maniapoto in Ōtorohanga. His guiding principle of Kaitiakitanga (guardianship) is evident in the concrete work he provides. He aims to leave Aotearoa with warm, high-quality, and safe infrastructure and buildings for future generations.

NZCS has worked with Tainui at the Ruakura Inland Port Development and is a registered Amotai supplier. NZCS is a whānau-run business that offers apprenticeships to young people.

Tikanga

At NZ Concrete Structures, an underpinning value which drives our desire to build comes from Kaitiakitanga: guardianship of natural resources. Managing director Douglas Tuhoro traces his heritage back to the chiefs of Tainui in Otorohanga Waikato. He has an innate sense for the importance of preserving Aotearoa and her natural assets for the future generations. Douglas is firm in his understanding of kaitiaki and takes his role as guardian of the land seriously. Kaitiaki runs deep in the Tuhoro veins. Building in concrete means our people will be housed, schooled and will work in warm, sustainable and quality dwellings which stand the test of weather, natural disasters and time. For our business plan, we look 500 years in advance. We aim to see Aotearoa leading the way into the future on a global platform for its quality buildings.

Wairuatanga

NZ Concrete Structures is committed to ensuring the unique spiritual protocols of Aotearoa are observed. We acknowledge the unseen energies of Papatuanuku and ask for her help and guidance when constructing structures upon her. Our tikanga ensure that entering into business with us means that we are whanau. You can expect to be treated fairly, honestly and ethically. We value the opportunity to work alongside you so we can provide great jobs to the people of Aotearoa while creating a physical environment which is left better than we found it. Our tikanga believe in creating strong assets for future generations of this land. We look forward to working alongside you.
